Spencer Briggs is a 3 time Emmy award winning producer and has been involved in the writing and production of broadcast quality marketing, training, news, and documentary projects for over 30 years. He has worked as a news and documentary producer for 6 network news affiliates of CBS, NBC, and ABC.  In addition, he has produced numerous documentaries and specials for WEDU, the Tampa PBS affiliate, involving topics such as Breast Cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, Social Security Reform, Civil Rights, and World War Two.  He is also an experienced Political Producer, producing the Florida debates for Attorney General, Senate, and Governor.  He has worked for several years on “A Gulf Coast Journal” with Jack Perkins.  He has won 3 Emmy awards:  for his 1991  documentary ” Desert Storm Diary” focusing on the 1991 Gulf War, for his 2007 documentary  “Central Avenue Remembered” about Tampa’s black community, and for his 2008 documentary “Heroes from the Bay” about Bay Area Veterans of World War two.  His 2006 documentary “Extraordinary Grace’ was also nominated for an Emmy award.   In December of 2009, he received 2 Emmy nominations for “A Gulf Coast Journal” with Jack Perkins.  In 2010, he produced the documentary “Venice, Florida: Moving Forward by Looking Back” for WEDU and the Florida Humanities Council.

 

He has written, produced or developed hundreds of broadcast news specials and documentaries as well as numerous marketing and training videos for corporate and business clients.  Clients include the St. Louis Symphony, Maryville University, Eckerd Drugs, URS Engineering, and Home Shopping.

 

He is also an award winning speaker, having competed in the Toastmaster’s International Speech Contest 6 times. He and his wife, Ann, live in Clearwater and have two children, Eric, age 14, and Gemma, age 12.
